Convento das Bernardas

The Convent of Bernardas transformed the former Monastery of the Order of the Cistercian in Tavira into a dwelling. The space that housed this religious order between the 16th and 19th centuries is now a hotel. The restoration was carried out by the renowned architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, winner of the 2011 Pritzker Prize.

Remaining within the original layout and maintaining the simplicity of its lines, as well as taking advantage of the landscape surrounding the Tavira salt flats, are the main assets of this renovation project, which combines the original historical elements with the features of a modern home.
