LOWER MILL | FINELY CRAFTED

After the holidays and some problems with Instagram, we are back! Returning to our normal routine, we’ll be bringing you the best interiors every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Stay tuned!

As you know, our first project in Spain will be the rehabilitation of an old barn, so today we are going to talk about one of the most exciting rehabilitations we have seen in a long time.

Lower Mill is an extraordinary project by McLaren.Excell studio. Although it’s a relatively young firm – 2010 – they already managed to create a unique signature. Minimalistic – neutral colored, devoid of ornamentation, and spacious – yet warm and vibrant.

This rehabilitation project is a perfect example of their design philosophy, comprehensible and straightforward. Black steel, bleached oak, limestone, glass, and natural fibers juxtapose to the wooden beams, bricks, and the mill wheel existent in the original structure, creating a gracious interior aesthetic of discreet elegance. We’ve been completely captivated by its beauty.
