Williams Burton Leopardi (WBL), Adelaide based studio, created a space for their practice that perfectly reflects their philosophy of living life well: “To us, it means that your space should elevate and celebrate life’s daily rituals.”
WBL studio is a mix of tradition and the architects’ refined aesthetic. The rehabilitation was impeccable, and the new elements were carefully thought to enhance interaction, collaboration, and thus, inspiration. The strategy was to touch as little as possible and as much as necessary. As a result, the studio decided to underline the importance of the passage of time by assuming that objects and space can gain beauty through the story they tell, although this – or only because of it – means that they show crevices and a patina that only time can attain.
Perfect the combination of tactile elements and texture, the artisanal handcrafted features with contemporary furniture, just as the contrast between the reclaimed lumber and the refined, polished brass. It’s a perfectly balanced space.
No doubt, it’s one of the most welcoming working environments we’ve seen lately. It’s not what it looks like, but what it feels like.
